DREAMING OF MONOCHROME

Monochrome Sophistication

I was playing around on one of my favorite sites, Polyvore, and I came up with this lovely combination. I am a huge fan of monochromatic palettes, as 80% of my wardrobe is in the black, grey, and white family, so this outfit is probably the epitome of ... me.

I am also dying over this exquisite tuxedo inspired jacket by BALMAIN and this bag of my dreams by Givenchy. I am determined to have both of these in my closet one day. I also quite enjoy the pop of cobalt blue in the shoe, it introduces a little color into the scheme.

Maybe you will see me in this outfit for a post in the future ;) pray with me?

STATE OF DREAMING

Top: Buffalo Exchange
Cardigan: H&M
High Waisted Levi's: Wasteland
Belt: Forever21
Bag: H&M
Shoes: Derby Boots, thrifted from Electric Lemonade (resale shop in Las Vegas)

So it is day two of my week trip here in the City of Angels. Did I already mention I am in love with the weather? Well can't say it enough. Universal City Walk is literally five minutes from where I am staying, so the family and I took a stroll down the very colorful and eventful pavement. I thought the globe in front of Universal Studios would be a great blog post background and a man enjoying his afternoon on a bench asked me if I was a model. Good day.

I have always been a fan of very oversized cardigans. They are so cozy and they look lovely paired with shorts that are shorter than the length of the cardigan. If you haven't noticed, I like to play with proportion. I quite enjoy the causality of this outfit, but I finished it off with this patent leather bag which I cannot get enough of.

The place that is my abode for about a week is steps away from Warner Brothers Studio backlots. Maybe I will see a movie star. Or maybe they are in need of one ;)

Trail mix and green tea. Goodnight.

Ben Green

MELODIES & DESIRES

Crop Top: American Apparel
Twill Pants: American Apparel
Bag: Badgley Mischka (similar Badgley Mischka bag HERE)
Shoes: Thrifted
Belt: Forever21

I am currently in L.A. right now for a vacation, plus a little work, and I am more than loving the weather. I have to keep myself from dangling my whole body out of the window while we drive downtown. Let's just say I am not looking forward to going back to 100 degree Vegas. But I have a week here so I will take what I can get.

I was decked out in American Apparel today, as I drove in to Los Angeles and ran to a meeting with Photogenics Media Group, so I figured I would take some pictures after the craziness settled down. I love the proportion of these high waisted twill pants and my new obsession, this turtleneck sleeveless crop top. I need this top in every color available.

Now I am going to go make myself some hot green tea and enjoy the smell of the fresh linens on my rollaway.

STYLISH LITERATURE

There is nothing like reading a good book with some rad frames on, and for those of us who aren't necessarily in need of prescription glasses, we fake it. There is something about wearing readers that makes me feel focused, as silly as that may sound, and they actually are a great fashion staple. They can make any casual look I little more stylish.

I get a lot of questions about where I get my readers from and I say Urban Outfitters is the best place to get them, as that is where I got both of the pairs shown above. Honestly, you can't go wrong with UO Eyewear in general.

On a side note, I am enjoying one of my favorite authors, Vonnegut, lately so I am re-reading one of his masterpieces, Slaughterhouse-Five. His writing is so odd but I love the style and I love a book with a fast pace.

I cuddled up in bed re-reading Gatsby last week, and of course I was wearing my readers ;)

Actually, I might go do that right now.

YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL

Blouse : LovelyWholesale
Shorts : Sheinside
Shoes : JustFab

I've had this blouse sitting in my closet collecting dust for a while because I was waiting for the right thing to pair it with. I was also waiting for spring/summer to hit so that the print would seem acceptable, even though there are no rules in fashion right?!

These "leather" shorts came in from Sheinside the other day and I knew they would be perfect with this blouse. I like the play on hard and soft, gives the look a simple contrast.

Off to eat my mother's yummy steak salad. Gotta love home cookin.

BLOCK OUT THE RAYS

Here is sunny Las Vegas, I can't go outside without sunglasses on unless I want to already be looking for good Botox doctors in my area. We haven't hit the peak of summer of course, but it is still in the 90 degree zone here and with that comes so much sun.

I have always said that the number one anti aging tip is to wear sunglasses. If they are any good, they protect your eyes from harsh rays and they keep you from squinting (premature wrinkles). Alright, I will stop talking like a 2am paid-per-view salesman.

I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite pairs of sunglasses. Check your local thrift stores! They always have great, unique bits in the UV eyewear department.
